8 Activities to Amp Up Your Spring

8 Activities to Amp Up Your Spring

If you’re brainstorming for ways to add some excitement to the season, allow us to slide a few suggestions your way. Check out these 8 activities to amp up your spring!

1. Picnic at the Park

Pack a tasty lunch, prepare a killer playlist, and grab a blanket + a good read. Have yourself a picnic! Make this a solo activity or invite a friend or two to join you. Nothing can match a little fresh air mixed with great food and good company! If you’d like to get active, bring along some roller skates, a ball or even a jump rope to play around with too.

2. Try a New ‘Do

Ever wanted to rock a pixie cut, or maybe a bob, bangs, or even a new protective style? Spring is the perfect time to take the leap! Fierce cuts and/or bold colors can be a fun way to experiment with your personal style. Our only word of caution – make sure you consult a professional and ensure that healthy products and practices remain in your regimen no matter the style you choose.

3. Become a Plant Parent

Nurturing something and getting to watch it grow can be incredibly beautiful and gratifying. Grab a plant or flower from your local store. Start with one that’s already bloomed if you’d like to keep the focus on maintenance and helping it flourish. If you have the space (and patience), buy seeds and soil instead, beginning the process from scratch. It’s an opportunity to learn a new skill and add a little more green to the earth!

4. Watch a Movie Outdoors

Don’t have a drive-in theater nearby? Not to worry! Head outside with a laptop, blanket and some popcorn. Make your porch, backyard, or local park the setting, and stream your favorite film in the open air. Bring a friend along too and enjoy the flick together!

5. Cook a New Meal

Not everyone enjoys getting active in the kitchen, but when you have something new and tasty to try, it can be a lot more fun. Spend some time surfing Pinterest for a recipe that catches your eye. Take a trip to the grocery store to stock up on the necessary ingredients, then head to the kitchen! Put on some tunes and enjoy the activity by yourself or go at it with a friend. If cooking isn’t your forte, try baking!

6. Rearrange Your Space

The itch for change tends to hit hard once springtime rolls around. While major transformations are great, even a small-scale switch up can do the trick! Try rearranging the furniture or setup of your living space. Start with one room, then if you’re craving more, make your way around the entire house or apartment, until you’re satisfied! If you’re feeling extra ambitious, consider adding a fresh coat of paint. One of our favorite Black-owned paint brands worth giving a try – Clare!

7. Donate Clothes

Whether you’re looking  to make room for new additions to your wardrobe, or just want to free up space, a thorough closet clean-out could prove to be helpful this time of year. Instead of trashing the old, opt to put them in a clothing drop box, take them to a GoodWill store, or even schedule a pickup with Red Cross or Purple Heart. If you’d like to make a few extra dollars, try selling some to a consignment shop or a Plato’s Closet store near you.

8. Swap Products with Friends

Have a bunch of hair products collecting dust on the shelves? Try hosting a product swap with a few of your closest curlfriends! Chances are they may be curious about some of the items you’re ready to part with and vice versa. It’s a win-win for everyone!
