Transition Your Hair Regimen From Summer to Fall

4 Helpful Tips to Transition Your Hair Regimen From Summer to Fall

Hair in a slump? Maybe, it’s time you made the switch!

Colder temperatures ahead! Transitioning from hot to cold – or even humid temps, often affects our skin and hair. Team EDEN recommends that our curlfriends find a seasonal routine to cater to the current needs of your hair, which means it may be time to switch up a few of your beauty faves. We’re here to help you retain moisture to lessen breakage during a dry season {pun intended}.

As the weather starts to get cooler, we’ve learned that our hair will often experience more dryness and potentially even breakage as a result of the harsh conditions. The head coverings like winter hats and scarves may also contribute to dry, breaking strands. Here’s how we’re switching things up moving into the fall season.

CATEGORY: Cleansers

EDEN BodyWorks CowashEver used a conditioner to wash your hair? It might be time to trade in your shampoo. It is often recommended to use a cowash to cleanse your hair during the fall. For those unfamiliar, a cowash is essentially a conditioner used to wash the hair in replacement of a shampoo. A cowash is great to use in colder months due to its ability to wash away oil and dirt while also moisturizing the hair. Your hair is more likely to be protected from breakage because there are no ingredients that would strip down the hair. Reducing the use of shampoo can help aid in maintaining the natural moisture levels of the hair.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS:

WHY? Both are great at removing residue from the hair without stripping and encourage healthy hair growth.

NOTE: if you are a heavy product user or have oily hair, remember the priority is to remove build up so co-washing may not be an alternative for you (use infrequently if you decide to try it).

CATEGORY: Refresher

EDEN BodyWorks RefreshersWhile using water to bring moisture back to our hair can be effective, our hair might need a little more TLC during the fall. Swap your spray bottles for products with hydrating ingredients like castor oil or aloe vera to promote healthy hair growth. Refreshers are often great options for curls, braids, twists, and/or locs.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS:

*This product is packed with vitamins that deliver nutrients needed to nourish the hair. It is great at reviving dull and dry hair – perfect for daily use.

TIP: Use them as a finisher when unraveling twists and/or braided styles.

CATEGORY: Conditioners

In most conditioner battles, leave-in conditioners win for their continuous conditioning properties and daily use application. We have a wide range of options from rinse out detanglers to moisture-packed leave-ins that help reduce dryness. Ironically, a lot of curlies will use both conditioner types during their wash days for added moisturizing benefits and to rehydrate or alleviate dry hair. Conditioners can be used as stylers and reapplied throughout the week to keep the hair hydrated.

EDEN BodyWorks Transitions to Leave In ConditionersNo matter the hair type, anyone can benefit from adding a good leave-in conditioner into their routine. Our Coconut Shea Leave In Conditioner is a great lightweight moisturizer that can be used daily. The combination of Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, and Aloe Vera come together to create a product loaded with all the hydration you need. This leave-in also protects the hair from protein loss and increases shine. Prepare for your curls to not only look amazing, but feel amazing too!

Help repair any damage done to the hair with our Almond Marshmallow Therapy Leave In Conditioner. It strengthens the hair and can be applied often without buildup. It’s great at protecting the hair from breakage, helps ease the process of detangling, and reduces the look for frizz or frayed hairs. It was formulated to protect the hair from (more) split ends which is why we refer to it as “Hair rehab in a bottle.”

CATEGORY: Deep Conditioners

EDEN BodyWorks Deep Conditioners for the Fall transitionWhile you might be able to skip out on deep conditioning during the summer, we recommend making time for it in the fall and winter months. When the air is cool and dry, deep conditioners become especially important to your regimen. Our JojOba Monoi Deep Conditioner is packed with ingredients like Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Castor Seed Oil to strengthen and bring balance to the moisture levels of the hair. It’s great at restoring hair from a damaged or dry state, especially if the hair is color treated.

On the flip side, another curlfriend fave is our Coconut Shea Hair Masque Treatment. Packed with Coconut Oil and Shea Butter, this conditioner reaches deep into the shafts of the hair to replenish essential moisture, leaving strands soft and hydrated. It’s a great choice for all hair types, including chemically-treated hair.

WE RECOMMEND:
  • Leaving deep conditioners on hair for 15-30 minutes
  • Adding heat or steam cap for better absorption (opens the cuticles)
  • Deep conditioning weekly, especially before and after protective styles

Remember to listen to your hair and let us know if these recommendations were helpful to you.

We want to see your hair thrive no matter the temperature outside.
